Deal or No Thanks

Ahh yes, the time honored tradition of the blatant game show ripoff… I love it! Obviously modeled after Deal or No Deal, Deal or No Thanks puts you in the hot seat, except in this version Howie Mandel isn’t there to annoy you to death with his need to state the obvious every five seconds.

For those unfamiliar, here’s how the game goes: You can win anywhere from 1 cent to $ 1 million. You pick a briefcase that contains a secret dollar amount, and then you start opening other briefcases that tell you how much is NOT in the case you picked. You want the briefcases you’re opening to have small dollar amounts in them. The “Banker” will periodically make offers to buy your briefcase based on the dollar amounts that remain on the board, and if you say no to all of his offers then you win what’s in the case. It’s a guessing game based on the process of elimination.

Standing in for Howie is a super cheesy announcer guy which is somehow fitting since Deal or No Thanks feels like a pretty low rent production overall. Cheapness aside, though, it does do a faithful job of recreating the rules of the actual TV game show even if the action kind of plods along with the opening of each dollar amount.

There’s really not much more to say about this one except that if you’re a fan of Deal or No Deal you’ll probably have a little fun with this game. Obviously you won’t be winning any real money, but if getting onto the OpenFeint scoreboard excites you then you might actually have an incentive to hit the green “deal” button before you get down to the last unopened briefcase.

Fun Sure, for fans of the TV game show
Sound & Graphics Cheesy as F***

California Attorney General Strikes Privacy Deal With Apple, Others

California Attorney General Strikes Privacy Deal With Apple, Others

The New York Times is reporting (via its Bits blog) that California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris has reached an agreement with tech heavyweights Amazon, Apple, Google, HP, Microsoft, and RIM to step up their collective privacy efforts. The measure, while basic in scope and simple (if inconvenient) to implement, comes with severe penalties for the aforementioned companies and third-party app developers should they fail to adhere to the rules in good faith. Says Bits,

The agreement will force developers to post conspicuous privacy policies detailing what personal information they plan to obtain and how they will use it. It also compels app store providers like Apple and Google to offer ways for users to report apps that do not comply. In a statement, the attorney general’s office said developers who did not abide by their own privacy policies would face prosecution under California’s Unfair Competition Law and False Advertising Law.

Of course, it’s important to note that these guidelines are only enforceable in California. Still, it should offer a quick, easy rubric for other states to follow, and we expect that to indeed be the case. In the meantime, Path’s misstep will continue making its way through the court of public opinion, while Google’s faux pas has landed it in the regular kind.

Nintendo and Namco Bandai Sign European Distribution Deal For One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special, exclusive to Nintendo 3DS

(PRWEB UK) 23 December 2011

Nintendo and NAMCO BANDAI today confirmed they have entered into a distribution agreement for the forthcoming game One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special, exclusive to Nintendo 3DS. Under the terms of the agreement Nintendo will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of the game throughout European territories with NAMCO BANDAI remaining as publisher. One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special is scheduled for release across Europe on 10th February 2012.

One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special is a remake of the classic Wii game, One Piece Unlimited Cruise Part 1: Adventure Beneath the Waves. Enjoy the game and brand-new bonus material, including the new Marineford Mode, on your Nintendo 3DS for the first time.

Based on the popular manga and anime series, One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special brings Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw-Hat Pirates to Nintendo 3DS for the first time. The action-adventure Nintendo 3DS game allows you to explore four strange islands, battling familiar One Piece enemies in real time. With over 50 hours of gameplay and brand new modes to master, fans of the series will have hours of fun. Battle enemies, collect items and create new useful tools from the things you find on the way to discovering the islands hidden mysteries.

As you explore the various islands youll be able to switch between each of the nine Straw-Hat Pirates at almost any time to best suit the situation. Each of the nine main characters has their own customisable controls and new attacks that can be unlocked as you progress through the game.

New to One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special, Marineford Mode allows you to take on the role of various characters in a series of one-on-one battles based on the events of the Marineford arc of the manga and anime. You can look forward to playing as some of your favourite characters and mastering each ones unique and individual moves and abilities.

Make sure you snap up your copy of One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special early, as the first print run of the game will be bundled with a limited-edition collectable figurine of Portgas D. Ace. Grab a copy of One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special to find out about this characters role in the game.

Take control of the Straw-Hat Pirates and explore the world of One Piece when One Piece Unlimited Cruise Special launches across Europe on 10th February exclusively for Nintendo 3DS.
